Confession #46: Life’s a Pitch

If you follow me on twitter or have read my bio you know that I am a Public Relations student.

I’ve been asked before, “How did you end up there?” and I can honestly say, I HAVE NO CLUE. Even though I have no memory of how I ended up in this major, what I do know is that I absolutely love what I am doing.

I’ve been taking a social media strategy class (yes it is really a class, and yes it is just as awesome as it sounds), and I have learned so much about interacting with professionals on social media and in the the blogging world. Over the course of the semester I have happened upon some really cool people, agencies, blogs, and the like. I thought I would do a quick post highlighting some of my favorites this semester.

As an aspiring PR Pro, I’ve found a lot of great advice, insight, and inspiration in this content. I have read over these blogs, stalked these Twitter feeds, and obsessed over these websites.

So this blog has been one of my favorites since I discovered it! It is filled with so many awesome tips about the PR world. Not to mention there are always cool interviews with PR pros. Getting that insight of a professional who is successful in the field that you want to be successful in, is amazing. I recommend checking this blog out! Follow on Twitter too. Robin R. ( the author) is pretty sweet too! I’m not even ashamed to admit I stalk PR girl diaries and her Twitter feed A LOT, she is always posting awesome content and tips.

PR Couture:

2015-04-29_12-25-23If you are wanting to go into the PR field and don’t already follow @prcouture  or @crosbynoricks on Twitter, I don’t know what to tell you. This is one of my favorite twitter feeds! constant PR advice, news, and other fun things (like a #PRgirl fashion line!) are all over this feed. I have tweeted before about how much I love PR couture, its bordering on obsession. I’m an advocate that when experts speak you should listen, PR couture is what I consider to be one of the experts in the field, and I am listening!

Seriously how cute is that shirt?!

I happened upon Lorrie Walker’s twitter, one day and followed her because, why wouldn’t I? I’m glad I did. Her blog has a lot of great PR advice for working in an every day office. Her twitter feed @PRLorrie is full of great advice straight from her blog and agency as well as other PR pros. I recommend checking her out on twitter and don’t forget to read her blog!

Lotus Leaf Communications:

So I have had this weird obsession with Canada for a major part of my life. I was looking around for agencies in Canada, because that’s what I do sometimes. I found Lotus Leaf Communications and then proceeded to spend the better part of my afternoon reading through their website, blog and of course the Twitter @lotusleafstyle. The Lotus Leaf blog has become another of my favorite blogs to read. I also admit I stalk this Twitter feed too. So much great advice for aspiring PR girls and guys.

I’d love to hear what you think, and if you have any PR blogs or Twitter feeds you recommend. I love diving in to the industry, I can’t wait to get my career started!
