Confession #43: How YouTube Changed the World of Beauty

At some point in most of our lives we have gone to YouTube looking for a certain video, then 3 hours, 4 vine compilations, 25 cat videos, and 15 videos of people falling later, we come to wondering how in the world we just spent that much time on YouTube. (At least I seriously hope most people have done that…other wise I may have a serious problem.)

One of the greatest things about YouTube is the How-to videos, there are literally thousands of videos on how to do the most random things, from how to wash dishes (I’m still not sure why a video on that is necessary) to how to make fake poop (again not so sure how necessary this is…I guess everyone has their hobbies).  My point here is that if you need to learn how to do something, YouTube has got you covered.

Before I really started getting into makeup, hair, and all that jazz. I used YouTube exclusively for music, and videos of people falling.

When I entered into the world of makeup, I was at a loss. Seriously, have you ever stepped into a Sephora or Ulta? There are so many products, and people it can be really overwhelming. Being a newbie I had no clue what to buy, but more importantly I had no clue how to apply what I did buy correctly. I honestly cringe when I think about the makeup I used to wear. We will make sure those pics stay in the vault.

YouTube is the place that started me on my way. It has truly changed the beauty world. There are so many videos for product reviews, hair and makeup tutorials, and tips and tricks. There are even videos from artists like Kandee Johnson on how to turn yourself into a disney princess or even a black and white painting.

YouTube has made such an impact in the way people view makeup and beauty products. It has become the norm to try finding a product review on YouTube before purchasing, or looking up how to use a product you have purchased. I always check for tutorials before I go out when I want to try something new. YouTube has become one of the main resources in my beauty arsenal and many others.

Check out a few of my favorite videos.

These are just a few of my favorites, but there are seriously THOUSANDS of videos if you want to know how to do something, be it a cat eye, cut crease, contouring, or just simply learning how to apply foundation. YouTube has become the learning hub.
