Confession #37: Apps- Changing the Face of Cosmetics

Sometimes it blows my mind to think that we have more technology than what sent a man to the moon, in our pockets. Smartphones have quickly become everyone’s favorite accessory. We have become so attached to our phones that without them we feel lost.

Since most of us are in a serious committed relationship with our phones, we are all about the apps that will make our lives better in some way, whether it be easier with an app like IFTTT (seriously check this one out, I never have to remember to fix my volume for class or work anymore!), or more fun with your favorite addicting game (I’m looking at you Agent Alice). Apps are an important part of our lives in more ways then we realize.

I personally am always looking for something to do on my phone, sometimes I just get bored and nothing sounds Appetizing ( yes that just happened). One day I was on Buzzfeed and happened upon an article filled with mobile apps that catered to makeup and beauty lovers! To say I was thrilled was an understatement. I immediately downloaded every single app I could, and played with them for a while. Then I went on a hunt to find more apps related to my makeup obsession. I decided to share my top 5 with you.

Without further ado here are my favorites, in no particular order.

Beautiful Me (iTunes and Google Play): This app is awesome, it can grab all your selfies and pictures over the years from Facebook and your own pictures on your phone, it then analyzes the change in your skin tone over time and gives you recommendations for your holy grail foundation.

My Makeup Collection (iTunes and Google Play): This app is for the extreme makeup lovers! If you are anything like me, it can hard to remember exactly what you have in your massive collection. This often means duplicates are bought or you end up buying something that looks good you use it and then remember why you didn’t like it before. The solves that problem, it breaks your collection up by product, color and brand (some brands aren’t present but) and it lets you leave a review of it for yourself so you remember what you thought about it and don’t risk buyer’s remorse. This has been my shopping buddy lately.
Visada (iTunes and Google Play): Visada is another cool app that gathers info based on your pictures. You take a makeup free selfie, answer a short questionnaire, and Visada curates products for you based on your picture (which measures acne, dark spots, wrinkles and more) and the answers to your questionnaire.
Makeup Genius (iTunes and Google Play): This app is really just for fun. You scan your face, and the facial recognition software recognizes where it is. Then you can choose a look that is created with L’Oreal products. There is also an option to try out all of the L’Oreal products individually. Check out that selfie below!
Skin Deep (iTunes and Google Play): Everyone needs this app in their life. EWG has worked to make a huge database of cosmetic products and their ingredients. You simply scan a product’s barcode and all the information pops up and save in your history.
